Recently finished the first charity campaign, organized
by foundation “Bistra and Galina’. The idea for it comes from the
staff of the Special kindergarten “Zora” – Rousse (for children
with mental and physical impairments). The team of the Foundation
undertook the making and printing of Christmas cards and calendars,
which were sold with the help of volunteers – students, the “Open
Society” Club of Rousse, the School Association for Global Education
SAGE, Leo Club, Lion’s Club Ister. The campaign raised 4347 levs,
which covered the purchase of rehabilitation apparatuses, mechanical
toys and supportive technique and consumer stuff for the children
from the kindergarten. |

The students are members of SAGE and have taken active part as volunteers
in the campaign for Special kindergarten “Zora”, organized by the
Foundation. |

The Dutch of Bulgarian origin Elena Antonich, as a
representative of the Dutch Charity Organisation “Stiching Dial
Ysehulp Buitenland” donated through the Foundation 30 000 levs for
organising a Day Centre for children with impairments at STSMB “A.
Burov” and the orphans of Home “R. Gateva”, “St. D. Basarbovski”,
“Nadejda” and the Red Cross Home for Homeless Children. The support
is in the form of beds, school desks, teacher’s desks, cupboards,
computers, clothes and soft toys;

The Rousse Notaries Group set up four one-year grants
through the Foundation, to be awarded to talented parentless children
at the end of each year;. |

Financing the publishing of a poetry book “Children’s
World”– of the works of up to 4th grade students at “A. Kanchev”
Primary School. The collection consists of short poems and pictures
by talented children, and the income from its selling will be used
for providing catering for students of the school, who live in poor
financial circumstances; |

On 7.12.2000 a charity concert was held,
organized by the Foundation, which marked the starting point of
a joint funds raising campaign “For the Smile of a Child”
of the Foundation and SAGE. Its purpose was through selling Christmas
and New Year’s greeting cards to raise funds for the building
of a Day Center for the mentally impaired children and for the “Teachers’
Children” Fund. The “Children’s World” collection
was promoted at the concert by performance of the young authors
themselves. Some of the students awarded grants by the foundation
also took part in the concert – musicians from the SSA “Prof.
V. Stoyanov”, Children’s Ensemble “Zdravets”,
Choir “Danubian Sounds”. Four talented young artists,
supported by the Foundation, were presented during the concert.
A charity auction was held on the following day with the works of
the four masters of the brush. All the 25 canvases exhibited in
the Plenary Hall of Rousse Municipality were bought by the art connoisseurs
who attended the auction. During the challenging bidding, one of
the pictures was sold for 230lv – the highest price offered
at the auction. 20 children from “A. Kanchev” School
also took part in the concert. By the initiative of the Municipal
Social Support Service the Foundation undertook the financing of
the breakfast and lunch meals of these children. At the concert
