Financial
aid for the publication of the book “The Progenitors of Rousse
- a Gate to Europe” by Rositsa Zlatkova. The author and the “Bistra
& Galina” Foundation launched the idea of writing and publishing
a bilingual book that would visualise the unique architecture
of Rousse - one of the great assets of Bulgaria and our town,
as well as the people and families to whom we owe the phenomenon
of ROUSSE from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th
century. Each book sold provides 2 levs as a contribution towards
a special fund for an Annual Grant of the “Bistra & Galina”
Foundation to go to the best architecture undergratuate from Rousse. |

Reconstruction of premises and provision of free equipment
to a Tourist Information Centre - District of Rousse. |

At the end of April the “Bistra
& Galina” Foundation organised an Easter Charity Show under
the motto “Ivan Kavalov and Friends” held in the Philharmonic Hall
/the House of Culture/. Students and teachers from the English Language
School “Geo Milev”, the Secondary Arts School “Professor Veselin
Stoyanov” - Rousse and the German Language School “Fridrih Schiller”
took part in it. The programme included presentation of songs in
the styles of jazz, rock, rege, classic, gospel, dances and short
plays, all of these performed in a non-traditional way by attractive
performers - teachers and students together. The games with the
audience, the quizz show and the numerous prizes were some of the
most entertaining moments enjoyed by all present. The proceeds of
the charity show amounting to 660 levs were used to provide aid
to talented students from the participating schools. The selection
od applicants was effected by a commission comprising repre-sentatives
of the Foundation and the directors of the participating schools.
The English Language School “Geo Milev” used the funds to meet the
expenses for participation of three students in the National Competition
in Mathematics and Computer Linguistics held in Varna, the Secondary
Arts School “Professor Veselin Stoyanov” - Rousse funded the compe-tition
participation fees to Yanitsa Hristova and Ralitsa Penkova, while
the German Language School “Fridrih Schiller” bought audio equipment
and CDs for the school choir. |

Financing the participation of the “Dunavski Zvutsi”
Choir - Rousse in the final concert within the European Music Festival
“Days of Europe” - Sofia under the patronage of Stefan Sofianski.
The concert was held in “Bulgaria” Hall with the participation of
the orchestra and choir of the Bulgarian National Radio conducted
by Maesrto Milen Nachev and Antonia Wilson. This national event
was dedica-ted to May 9th - the Day of United Europe and the programme
included “Hymn of the Nations” by Verdi, fragments from Mozart’s
“Requiem” and the “9th Symphony” by Beethoven. The concert was attended
by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov, the
Prime Minister Simeon Sakskobourggotski and diplomats from all European
countries. |

Financing a project of the
Municipal Service for Social Support - Rousse “We can do more together”.
The initiative involved the organisation of a one-month Sunday school
for healthy children and children with special needs from Rousse
who learned and created together. The programme included studying
the spring rites and religious holidays from the Bulgarian calendar.
All participants listened to a lecture about the appearance and
development of Christianity and the traditions connected with the
greatest Christian holidays - thr Day of Flowers, Easter, St. George’s
Day. The children represented what they had learned in paintings,
collages, icons, wreaths, Easter eggs. The Foundation provided snacks
and the materials used by the young artists. |

Charity Exhibition of Children’s
Art under the motto “The Art in Us” orga-nised by the “Bistra &
Galina” Foundation and the Municipal Service for Social Support.
The aim of the event, which ended with a charity auction, was to
raise funds to provide support to children with special needs in
our town. It included the works of young talents from the Rousse
Catholic Organisation “Kari-tas”, the Regional Organi-sation of
the Union of Blind People, the Special Kindergarten “Zora”, the
“Bistra & Galina” Foundation, the Nurseries “Radost” and “Chervenata
Shap-chitsa”. The raised funds amounted to 676 levs, which by the
general agreement of the participants was divided equally among
the organisations working with special needs children, namely “Karitas”
and kindergarten “Zora”. With its share “Karitas” bought a tennis
table for the Daily Centre for Special Needs People “Milosurdie”
while “Zora” paid the fees for specialisation and training of their
experts and the Regional Union of the Blind - the necessary materials
for the courses “Art for the Children with Impaired Vision”. |

Financial support to the Inter-national
Festival “March Music Days” by provision of accommodation for the
tutors of the master classes in the Academy “Sasha Popîv” during
the festival. |

Christmas Charity Campaign,
comprising the sale of eleven kinds of Chrismas cards. The funds
raised will be used in the priority programme of the Foundation
“The Talented Children of Rousse” which supports the development
of gifted young people in the field of art, literature, science
and technology. The raised sum of 904 levs will be distributed at
a regular session of the Board and will go for annual creativity
grants.. |

in Mathematical and Computer Linguistics - Rousse organised by the
Association “Mathematical and Computer Linguistcs” by providing
prizes and payment of fees for the participants of Rousse. |

National Chess Competition “Pristis” cup - Rousse 2002 by providing
prizes - cups, medals, certificates and stationery. |

children’s show “Journey in the Land of Geometry” of the State Puppet
Theatre - Rousse. |

the School of Mathe-matics “Baba Tonka” to be used by students working
actively in the sphere of informatics and mathematics. |

edition of the faximile copy of the book “Theatrical Activites in
Rousse 1871 - 1926 - Historical notes and Memories” under the editorship
of T. Hr. Dashkov, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Tax
Office. |

Financial aid for the project “Ecoschools 2002” of
the “Ecosever” Association - Rousse. In June 28 children from Rousse
were involved in classes within the confines of the “Roussenski
Lom” Natural Park. The educational programme included studies of
natural and historical sights, problems of environment, ecogames,
show of ecofilms. The young environmentalists visited the medieval
town of Cherven, the Ivanovo Rock Churches, the “Orlova Chuka” cave,
the “Raj” locality, the monastery by the village of Koshov and others. |
